Ishmael Arredondo, former President of the Argyle Civic Association, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, after suffering a heart attack. A native of Mexico City, Ishmael attended American University in Washington, DC and obtained an MBA from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. After living in the U.S. for many years, he became a United States citizen in 2023 and was looking forward to voting in his first election this March. His passionate and longtime commitment to the Argyle Civic Association and our neighborhood was well-attested and unwavering. He will be sorely missed.
We urge all residents of our area to become paid members of the Argyle Civic Association. This is also the month for current members to RENEW their memberships.
Dues are a modest $15 for renters and $20 for property owners and businesses. If you would like to make a tax-free donation to the Argyle Civic Association, click below.

Proliferation of Tents on
Argyle Avenue The Argyle Civic Association is concerned about the proliferation of homeless encampments on Argyle Avenue, south of Franklin. A recent count found nine (9) tents on the block between Franklin and Yucca, including an ramshackle shanty on the Argyle-Yucca Triangle.
Tents on the east side of Argyle on Caltrans property (behind the fence) have been reported to CalTrans. Other encampments have been reported to CD14 and will receive clean-ups in early August. Unfortunately, in spite of an official request from the Argyle Civic Association, CD13 has declined to add this area to its list of enforcement zones for Los Angeles Municipal Code 41.18 because of the the absence of nearby parks, schools, or libraries.
